Heath & Wellness Weight Loss Challenge

As many of you may know, I have been vegetarian since May 21, 2011.

Like I always say, “Being vegetarian may not necessarily extend your life, but it can possibly improve the quality of your life.”

However, I must admit, I have not always maintained a healthy diet. My go to “vegetarian” foods were pasta, potatoes, cookies, chips, and especially Key Lime Pie.

So, on April 8th, I accepted a Health & Wellness Weight Loss Challenge. I began again to eat “cleaner” and only put “healthy” food in my body. By doing that, an amazing thing happened; it seemed as if my brain shifted into a different mode and I began to think differently about food.

I no longer had the desire for unhealthy food, i.e., fast food, sugary drinks, chips, cookies, or anything with added sugar.

I developed a heightened sense of awareness of what is good for me to eat; even within a matter of days of accepting the challenge to eat healthy.

Now, when I am offered a food item that may be considered unhealthy, I am not at all tempted. I do not want to “defile” my temple with anything that is potentially not good for my body. (Please comment if you can relate.)

Speaking of defiling my temple… we know, as Christians, we are the temple of God and His Spirit lives in us. (1 Corinthians 3:16 & 17)

With all of that being said, I would like to encourage everyone who is reading this blog to accept my Health & Wellness Weight Loss Challenge and to also make a conscience decision to live a healthier lifestyle and to eat a cleaner diet… with more fruit,🍌 🍎 🍉 vegetables 🍅 🌽 🌶 and plenty of fresh water. 💧 💦

Keep yourselves in the love of God

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And of some have compassion, making a difference:

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

‭‭~Jude‬ ‭1:20-23‬ ‭(KJV‬‬)

Keys for a Successful Marriage

January’s key for a successful marriage is COMPROMISE… the companion to this key is CONSIDERATE…

January’s Key – Compromise

Not only is it important to compromise in your marriage, it is also imperative to be considerate to your spouse.

What does being considerate look like in a marriage?

We must be careful to not cause inconvenience or hurt to each other.

We must show thoughtfulness and sensitivity towards our spouse and be willing to put their needs and feelings before our own.

Being considerate to your mate is a selfless act and it sounds easier said than done, but the benefits reaped in your marriage are well worth it.

What does the Bible say about being considerate?

Philippians 2:3-4

3. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Titus 3:2

2. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

1 Corinthians 10:24

24. Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

…and let us not forget Colossians 3:13

13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

When we truly love someone, we must be willing to put in the work in order to not only make the marriage survive, but to THRIVE!

Remember God will not judge us on how we are treated; but He will judge us on how we treat others.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – Some of His ‪Most Famous and Inspiring Quotes…‬

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a social activist and Baptist minister who played a key role in the American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968.

Dr. King sought equality and human rights for African Americans, the economically disadvantaged and all victims of injustice through peaceful, non-violent protest. He was the driving force behind watershed events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the 1963 March on Washington, which helped bring about such landmark legislation as the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and is remembered each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a U.S. federal holiday since 1986.

Below are some of Dr. King’s most famous and inspiring quotes:

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude.”

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?”

“Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.”

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.”

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”

“Let no man pull you so low as to hate him.”

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
