“Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.”

Response to Mikey’s Love Letter
Have you ever heard something so amazing, so astonishing, so astounding, so staggering, so startling, so surprising {WHEW} from a child that it literally stops you in your tracks?!? Well, if you have not, then fasten your seatbelt and prepare to be shocked and stunned.
The other day I was having a very pleasant conversation with one of my dear sisters, who shall remain nameless; however, she has already been identified by the subject of this blog. Anyway, as we went through the usual pleasantries of inquiring about each other’s day, and what’s for dinner, and have you heard the latest current affairs issue, and how’s the extended family, and of course the conversation absolutely could not end without asking the age-old inquiry: how’s the kids doing in school.
Oh boy, I was not prepared for the details of the conversation that ensued after that inquiry!! My dear sister began to tell me about the activities of her 8-year-old son, who we will call Mikey (because that’s his name). So, here’s how the story goes:
My dear sister said she happened to stumble across a crumpled piece of paper that belonged to Mikey. And of course, being the dear, concerned, loving mother that she is, it was her moral obligation and her duty as a good parent to uncrumple the paper and read the message scribbled on the paper (I’m not even sure if “uncrumple” is a word, but you get the picture).
Here are the words that were on the paper
which were somewhat confusing
and shocking:

“We <heart> you too.
we will Keep Your
note for ever and ever
till we go to colloge.”
The confusing part is not the word “colloge”, but the word “We” is what intrigued my dear sister — however, this is not the end of the story…
So, when Liz, {oops, on condition of anonymity}, I meant to say, when my dear sister finally gained her composure. She asked Mikey the obvious question (now here comes the shocking part), Mikey’s priceless response:
My Dear Sister: Mikey, why did she use the word “We”?
Mikey: {in his exasperated voice} Moooom, I wrote one letter to two girls!! {{DUH}}
{{now here is my question: how did the girls decide who would write the response to Mikey? I guess we will never know}}
{{and if you have any questions for Mikey, please leave a comment for him}}
When my dear sister finished telling me this true story, first came shock and amazement, then came gut wrenching laughter, and then, I must admit, came a weird sense of “wow-that-is-kinda-resourceful, way to go Mikey!!!” Lol!

Let Jesus Be Your Guide – I Will Go Where the Good Shepherd Leads
The other day, I read a FaceBook post from a very beautiful young lady – whom I love dearly. Her post stated, “Praying for guidance in so many areas of my life!” and immediately, my mind went to Psalms 23:1-6.
Psalms 23 is a very familiar passage with tremendous healing properties. Psalms 23 will clear your mind; keep you focused, relax you; comfort you; lift you up; refresh you…Psalms 23 is literally a spiritual massage…Lol!!! – and of course the passage will most certainly guide you in the right direction.
When I read that young lady’s post, I started to reflect on the word of God and here is how I was inspired and compelled to expound on Psalm 23:
- The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
{Jesus, the Good Shepherd guides us in every way and provides all our needs; there is never anything that is lacking…therefore, I will go where the Good Shepherd leads…} - He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
{the Good Shepherd makes a comfortable resting place for us and he satisfies our thirsty soul…therefore, I will go where the Good Shepherd leads…} - He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
{when I am tired and distraught, the Good Shepherd refreshes me and he keeps me focused and on the right track…therefore, I will go where the Good Shepherd leads…} - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
{yes, there will be times when I am saddened or despondent, but I do not lose hope and I won’t be afraid, because the Good Shepherd is my present help in my time of trouble; the Good Shepherd is my Protector and my Comforter…therefore, I will go where the Good Shepherd leads…} - Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
{I am not intimidated by my enemies because the Good Shepherd goes before me and makes even my enemies to be at peace with me…therefore, I will go where the Good Shepherd leads…} - Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
{Hallelujah, yes and amen!!! The Good Shepherd has provided me with His Goodness and His Mercy for the rest of my life and I will live with the Good Shepherd for eternity}…therefore,I will go where the Good Shepherd Leads, I will eat what the Good Shepherd feeds and the Good Shepherd will lead me into Green Pastures
To the beautiful young lady from FaceBook and everyone else who may be reading my blog, please always remember, God cares about you (1 Peter 5:7), He is a very present help in trouble (Psalms 46:1), and He will perfect everything that concerns you (Psalms 138:8). I pray there was a word of comfort and encouragement to someone who may be hurting.
This is my very first post to my blog “Speaking the Truth in Love” and I am looking forward to many, many, many, more.
