Coaching Moments with Life Coach Babs Presenting the Series “12 Keys For A Successful Marriage”

April’s key for a successful marriage is FORGIVENESS

In a marriage a husband and wife must be eager and quick to forgive.

Allowing a matter to fester is devastating to a marriage.

The Bible teaches us to forgive:

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” ~Matthew 6:14 (NET)

What does forgiveness look like in a marriage?

Forgiveness must always be from the heart and always sincere.

And remember, God will not judge us on how we are treated; but He will judge us on how we treat others.

How Do You Share Your Faith?

I was recently in an EEOC training and the trainer was explaining how certain very innocent, well meaning phrases that we use may sometimes come across as offensive and she used the following illustration:

“There was a Bank Teller who always said, “God bless you” to her customers after they finished their bank transactions with her. On one occasion, a certain customer was “offended” by her words and reported the Bank Teller to management. Of course management had to be “politically correct” and instructed the Bank Teller to not use the term “God bless you” to her customers. The Bank Teller did not get upset, she promptly agreed and continued to provide excellent customer service as usual.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” -Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

“Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” -Colossians 3:24 (KJV)

But now, instead of saying, “God bless you” to her customers after finishing their transactions, she simply says, “Goodbye”.

good·bye

ɡo͝odˈbī/

Origin late 16th century: contraction of God Be With You!

MORAL OF THE STORY: there is always a way to share your Faith in God 😊

The Teacher in the classroom; the Office worker; the Politician; the high paid Athlete… as a Spirit filled, *born again Christian, how do you share your faith with others in a society where we are now hard-pressed to even say, “God bless you”?

I hope you enjoyed reading “How do you share your faith?” Kindly comment and share!

*Do you know what it means to be born again and do you know the importance of being born again? You can find the answers in the book of John, chapter 3, verses 1-15…

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” -John 3:3 (KJV)

And remember, God will not judge us on how we are treated; but He will judge us on how we treat others.

GOD Knows our End From The Beginning

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: -Isaiah 46:10 (KJV)”

God already knows how everything is going to turn out for us before we even begin to go through a situation…

…that’s amazing.

We tend to start to worry and fret at the very onset of a trial or test; but God already knows the ending…

…that’s truly amazing.

Why can’t we simply accept what God allows… we’re better off anyway and we should thank Him in advance!

…and to God be all the glory!

March’s key for a successful marriage is COMMUNICATION

March’s Key: COMMUNICATION

Effective communication is, simply put, successfully exchanging information between two or more individuals.

In order to effectively communicate, we must listen intently in order to get an understanding of what is being said; take your turn in the conversation and do not monopolize the entire conversation.

Remember, timing is everything. Never try to have a deep conversation with your spouse when he or she is not completely present in the moment.

What does effective communication look like in a marriage?

  • Always speak to your spouse with dignity and respect
  • When communicating with your spouse, speak with a gentle tone and say it with kindness
  • Have a smile in your voice and love in your heart
  • Learn to use patience when communicating with your spouse
  • Never have a competitive spirit – this will only lead to frustration and anger
  • Remove all distractions so that your spouse may have your undivided attention

What does the Bible say about communication?

“But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

~Matthew 5:37(KJV)

In other words, say what you mean and mean what you say. If you make a promise or commitment to your spouse, be careful to follow through. As Steve Forbes said, “A promise made should be a promise kept.”

The Bible also admonishes us to:

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

~Ephesians 4:29(KJV)

There should never be a time when a husband or wife use harsh swear words when communicating with his or her spouse. Instead our words should be soft and should edify, encourage, and build up each other. I know this is not always an easy task; however, it is achievable, with patience, longsuffering, and much prayer.

Furthermore, the Bible teaches us:

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

~ Proverbs 4:7(KJV)

Once an understanding is reached, any dispute or conflict in your relationship can be easily assessed and resolved.
